Hello everyone! One word: 2025… How should I describe this year? A breathless year? Anxiety-provoking? Questionable? A year of questioning? Well, I’d say it’s a little bit of all of this and that. Honestly, I couldn’t wait for it to end and there’s a good reason I think I’ve been listening to and watching way too much news. A good majority of them were just as exhausting and exasperating: the rates, the rise of artificial intelligence, Israel/Palestine, the new law on doctors in Quebec (Canada) and so on… Phew, that’s a lot, but I needed to connect with the world around me to give myself a better awareness for my future. Now I know I always knew that I wanted to offer beauty and optimism in this world.

To achieve this, colors and folk prints will be there for the very first collection of Miss Georgia and Georgianna M. Colors and prints are omnipresent around us, they put in us a state of mind and feelings. They give us the strength to move forward or sink us into a deep silence. Moreover, depending on the country, the culture and the era, the two have different meanings, sometimes at odds with those of neighboring cultures. They are also bearers of meaning and symbolism, such as white, which is associated in the West with purity, while it is linked to mourning in most Asian countries. In short, I don’t intend to let myself get down after this hard year of emotion. I hope that the magic of colors and textile prints will bring a new breath of life with the doll clothes I plan to make. Stay tuned for the future.

Allô à tous! Un mot : 2025…Comment dois-je d’écrire cette année? Une année essoufflant? Anxiogène? Questionnable? Une année de remise en question? Eh bien, je dirais que c’est un peu de tout ceci et de cela. Honnêtement, j’avais hâte qu’elle finisse et il y a une bonne raison je crois : j’ai écouté et regardé beaucoup trop de nouvelles. Une bonne majorité d’entre elles étaient tout aussi épuisantes et exaspérantes : les tarifs, la monté de l’intelligence artificielle, Israël/Palestine, la nouvelle loi sur les médecins au Québec (Canada) et j’en passe…Ouf, cela en fait beaucoup, mais il me fallait me connecter au monde qui m’entoure pour me donner une meilleure prise de conscience pour mon avenir. Maintenant je sais, en fait, j’ai toujours su que je voulais offrir de la beauté et de l’optimisme dans ce monde.

Pour y arriver, les couleurs et les imprimés folkloriques seront au rendez-vous pour la toute première collection de Miss Georgia et de Georgianna M. Les couleurs et les imprimés sont omniprésentes autour de nous, elles nous insufflent dans un état d’esprit et des sentiments. Ils nous donnent la force d’avancer ou nous enfoncent dans un mutisme profond. De plus, selon les pays, les cultures et les époques, les deux revêtent des significations différentes parfois aux antipodes de celles des cultures voisines. Ils sont aussi porteurs d’un sens et d’une symbolique ; comme le blanc associé en Occident à la pureté, alors qu’il est lié au deuil dans la plupart des pays asiatiques. Bref, je compte de ne pas me laisser abattre après cette année dure en émotion. Je souhaite que la magie des couleurs et des impressions textiles aille apporter un nouveau souffle avec les vêtements de poupées que je compte réaliser. Rester à l’écoute pour la suite.

A little fun

Before I started making all the Miss Georgia outfits, I wanted to have a little fun. I have a lot of fabric scraps. Many are of vivid colors and what better way to use them to make a few pieces by hand quickly. Each of the pieces of clothing was pinned, and then I had fun taking pictures here and there.

One thing is clear; I try to maintain a tidy environment in my home studio. However, my collection of fabrics for doll clothes is starting to exceed the capacity of my closet. It overflows. It is imperative that I find a suitable space to store several scraps of fabric. Pretty white cardboard boxes were bought and well identified.

When I buy fabrics, I make sure to provide only what I need for my projects so that I don’t accumulate them. However, this minimalist approach is difficult for a doll designer because fabric is essential.

A unique box

For the introduction of the very first production of the Miss Georgia doll, I intend to make the boxes myself. These box style boxes will be made of hard cardboard and canvas. It took me a long time to develop the design plan. Nearly a year of work to find an efficient and elegant way. At first, my idea was to get cardboard boxes and then affix the logo using screen printing as an image transfer. But I was not convinced of the result. To introduce Miss Georgia, I needed a box that was as pretty as it was practical like a collector’s item. However, for future doll collection sales, I plan to use custom and pre-made cardboard boxes that are just as beautiful and eco-friendly.  In short, I can’t wait to show you the first sample in the next few weeks.

Pour l’introduction de la toute première production de la poupée Miss Georgia, j’ai l’intention de réaliser moi-même les boîtes. Ces boîtes de style coffret seront fait de carton dur et de Canvas. L’élaboration du plan de conception m’a pris un temps fou. Près d’une année de travail à trouver une façon faire efficace et élégante. Au début, mon idée était de me procurer des boîtes de carton, puis apposer le logo à l’aide de sérigraphie comme transfert d’image. Mais, j’ai été peu convaincu du résultat. Pour introduire Miss Georgia, il me fallait une boîte aussi jolie que pratique comme un objet de collection. Toutefois, pour les prochaines ventes de collections de poupées, je compte utiliser des boîtes de carton personnalisées et préfabriquées tous aussi magnifiques et qu’écologiques.  Bref, Je suis impatiente de vous montrer le premier échantillon d’ici les prochaines semaines.

Clothing Basic Patterns

Hello! The creation of the basic patterns began several weeks ago. The process is lengthy and includes various technical adjustments, such as changing the length. Several basic models have been fixed. I’m excited to create the first designs for Miss Georgia’s next collection.

Bonjour! La création des patrons de base a commencé il y a plusieurs semaines. Le processus est long et inclut divers ajustements techniques, comme la modification de la longueur. Plusieurs modèles de base ont été corrigés. Je suis enthousiaste à l’idée de créer les premiers modèles pour la prochaine collection de Miss Georgia.

Outfits for a photo shoot

Hi everyone.  I’ve been working on a few outfits for an upcoming photo shoot. And yes, because I worked on a second doll with a slightly darker complexion. Her color is almond and resembles to the previous doll. I hope you like her.  For the rest, I’ll keep it simple.  There’s no way I’m going to complicate my life. There will be no flash… Just minimalism. I want to keep it very simple.  The clothes are dyed and I’m in the process of figuring out the final looks that I want for this shoot. I need to understand Miss Georgia’s figure. Her waist is small, but her hips are wider.  She has a short torso and long legs. I know that some clothes will fit her perfectly, like the tunic dress and short pants.

Bonjour tout le monde.  J’ai travaillé sur quelques tenues pour une prochaine séance de photos. Et oui, car j’ai travaillé sur une deuxième poupée avec un teint un peu plus foncé. Sa couleur est amande et ressemble à la précédente poupée. J’espère qu’elle vous plaira.  Pour la suite, je ferai les choses simplement.  Il est hors de question que je me complique la vie. Il n’y aura pas de flash…Juste du minimalisme. Je veux garder les choses très simples.  Les vêtements sont teints et je suis en train de déterminer les looks finaux que je veux pour cette séance photo. J’ai besoin de comprendre la silhouette de Miss Georgia. Sa taille est petite, mais ses hanches plus larges.  Elle possède un torse court et de longues jambes. Je sais que certains vêtements vont lui faire à merveille, comme la robe tunique et les pantalons courts.

Hi my friends! Lately, I’ve been wondering what name I could give to this first collection. I have too many ideas and I need to make up my mind! Indeed, I want to use poems and proverbs to accompany this collection. Ho god! You have no idea how excited I am! In fact, I believe the primary reason for this excitement and is due to the fact, that this is my very first real collection. To help me, I put together a notebook and an inspirational board. Every day I’ve pinned images, materials, accessories and objects of all kinds. Of course, the more I’ve experimented and advanced with my ideas, the more my inspirational board changes. These changes are due either to the wrong combination of materials or colors. I admit, it’s getting a little frustrating, but hey, it’s a choice I made. I leave you with some images of my inspirational ideas and I’ll see you again with what’s next.

Salut mes amis! Ces derniers temps, je me suis demandée quel nom je pourrais donner à cette première collection. Les idées sont trop nombreuses et il faut que je me décide! Effectivement, je souhaite employer des poèmes et des proverbes pour accompagner la collection. Holà là! Vous n’avez pas idée comme j’en suis excitée! En fait, je crois la raison première de cette excitation et reliée par le fait que c’est ma toute première vraie collection. Pour m’aider, j’ai monté un cahier et un tableau d’inspiration. Chaque jour, j’ai épinglé des images, des matières, des accessoires et des objets de toute sorte. Bien sûr, plus j’expérimente et j’avance avec mes idées, plus mon tableau d’inspiration change. Ces changements sont dû soit par les mauvaises combinaisons de matières ou de couleurs. J’avoue, que cela devient un peu frustrant, mais bon, c’est un choix que j’ai fait. Je vous laisse avec quelques images de mes idées d’inspirations et je vous revois avec la suite.

Basketry sofa

Happy Sunday! This beautiful sofa in this photo is very interesting, don’t you think? I found it by chance in a thrift shop for a great deal. The technique used for this sofa is basketry: who is by that way, the most ancient craft technique. For over a decade now, basketry is experiencing a revival among the craft community. You have to take a look at one of my PINTEREST pages to prove that. Basketry is the weaving of vegetable fibers, not spun, usually shaped containers or bottles. We learned, by archaeologists, with radiocarbon dating, that the first baskets are 10,000 or 12 000 years old at Fayum, Faiyum or El Faiyūm in the High Egypt. Just as the weavers do tables in tapestry, the basket of today creates sculptures. All cushions were made by me. I intend to learn the technique… maybe next summer? I will see, and it will all depend on my schedule of the time…for now have a good week my friends!

Bon dimanche! Ce magnifique canapé sur cette photos est très intéressante, ne trouvez-vous pas? Je l’ai déniché  par chance dans une friperie à très bon cou. La technique employée pour ce canapé est la vannerie : qui est soit dit en passant, la plus ancienne technique artisanale. Elle connaît, depuis une décennie, un renouveau chez les artisans. Vous n’avez qu’à jeter un coup d’œil sur une de mes pages PINTEREST pour en avoir la preuve. La vannerie est le tissage de fibres végétales non filés, généralement en forme de contenant ou de récipient. On apprend, par des archéologues, grâce à la datation au radiocarbone, que les premiers paniers datent de 10 000 ou 12 000 ans à Fayoum, dite EL Fayoum, dans la Haute-Égypte. Tout comme les tisserands font des tableaux en tapisserie, les vanniers d’aujourd’hui créent des sculptures. Tous les coussins ont été confectionné par moi. Je compte apprendre la technique…peut-être au cours de l’été prochain? Je verrai et cela dépendra mon calendrier du temps…d’ici-là, passez une bonne semaine mes amis!

Here’s Pae!

Good evening to you all! Here she is and may I present to you Pae my first handmade BJD! I spent a whole afternoon taking photos. Speaking of photos, the photo session was exhausting! Due to a lack of natural light, the sun light, which in the end gave me a headache. Of course, several photos were simply removed. Regarding Pae, she stands 50 cm tall (20 inches), her eyes are handmade with Swarovski Crystal cabochons and her suit is hand painted.  In the coming weeks, I’ll make several posts on the theme of love and since Valentine’s is almost upon us… this falls well don’t you think?

Bonsoir à tous! La vois-ci et je vous la présente Pae ma toute première BJD! J’ai passé tout un après-midi à prendre des photos. Parlant de photos, la session de photos fut épuisante! Le fait de manquer de lumière naturelle, la lumière du soleil, m’a donné à la fin un mal de tête. Évidement, plusieurs photos ont été tout simplement supprimées. En ce qui concerne de Pae, elle fait 50 cm de haut (20 pouces), ses yeux sont faits main avec de cabochons de Crystal Swarovski et son tailleur est peint à la main.  Au cours de prochains semaines, je ferai plusieurs posts sur le thème de l’amour et puisque la St-Valentin est à nos portes…cela tombe bien vous ne trouvez pas?
