Doll faces are not finish, lashes and scellant needs to be added
These are the two heads that I’m working on and because of a nasty cold, I didn’t have the chance to paint their bodies. I intend to take two days off to heal myself. I really need it. I tried to work, but I couldn’t. However, I plan to rework my inspirational board and start drawing some styles. Iβll see you soon guys.
Hello! I’m continuing with the painting of my second lady’s painting. The work is pleasant, but just as laborious. The majority of my brushes are actually defective. And if I want to do a good job, I won’t have the choice to get more of them. I want to give myself two more days of work to finish it. Apart from my day job, it is only during the weekend that I will be able to continue with her.
Good morning! The painting of my two ladies has begun, they will finally come to life. At first, I panicked slightly, since it had been a while since I had used acrylic paint. Unlike porcelain paint, acrylic paint can be messy and what about the very unpleasant and chemical smell of the sealer. In addition, even the majority of my brushes were destroyed and many were good for the trash. But I kept them for other purposes. I think I’m going to book two days of work to do the painting: the dolls are big and I need a lot of natural light
Happy Saint Patrick’s Day everyone and thank you all my 150 followers here on WordPress who enjoy my artwork. In my humble opinion, it is good that we as independant artists to support each other. For those of you who are interested, make sure to follow me on Instagram since it will be the madium which I will mainly use to showcase my work in progress. Don’t worry, I will continue using WordPress to explain, promote and sell my artwork. Have a nice day!
Happy Monday friends! Things are going well with my porcelain lady: I’m
trying to assemble her at this present time. To avoid the collision between porcelain
pieces during handling, leather strips were glued between each joint. However,
the assembly process is long and complex. Indeed, this assembly is carried out
by a complex metal system made out of rods, springs, hooks and swivels. Unlike polymer
clay or resin BJD dolls, which are assembled with elastics, each part of the
doll is assembled one by one. I must admit that I hurt myself several times,
but this did not discourage me at all! In a few days, you’ll see the final
result!
Hello my friends! Well here are the pieces of my BJD doll once painted! Three firings were necessary and I now have the choice to choose between two heads to complete my doll. Speaking of paint, several people have asked me what is china paint?
I’m a little surprised, since several of them are artists specialized in the making of resin BJD dolls. I must admit that the manufacturing process between porcelain and resin BJD dolls is quite different. However, tonight, I will not dwell on this issue, but I will keep it for a future post! But what is China paint actually?
China paint designates not only all paints or techniques from China, but also the painting on ceramic or porcelain. This paint comes in the form of pigments (powder) which will be later mixed and diluted with an oil or water based medium. This paint will remain fixed and permanent once fired in a semi-industrial electric oven (kiln) with high temperatures between 700Β°-800Β°C (1292Β°-1472Β°F).
Good morning to you all! I have finally begun the first layer of china paint. There will be four firings to complete my BJD doll. It is a process that I love: It relaxes me, but especially since the doll comes to life. The only thing that saddens me is my doll’s broken finger… I did not fix it. I will do it next time. The next step will be the assembly.
Hello everyone! Before applying the first coat of china paint on my BJD doll, I did a final sanding, in order to obtain a satiny touch. Indeed, each piece will have a semigloss look and will be soft to the touch. Three days of work is waiting for me and I have to choose between three heads! I would like to finish this doll by the end of this coming week: I keep my fingerscrossed! Other final images will be shown in the next post.
Hello! My BJD doll parts are still not completely dry…So I continued to paint other heads, but also a bust and a pair of feet! I’m happy with the results and I can’t wait to make a complete doll, that I will show you, at least before the Holidays. This first porcelain doll will be important, since it will determine my evolution and I where I want to go in the doll world.
Hello my friends! I finally finished the hands of this prototype doll and she finally comes to life! I like sculpting hands which requires great care and attention to details…
