Hello everyone! I am willing to do a long and laborious work that of sanding. But there is also another challenge, which is to drill and widen the tunnels and holes of each part of the doll. I’ll have to focus on safety! Gangs, coat, hairnet, bezel and mask with filter will be a necessity! Not to mention that I need good lighting and to do it all in a well-ventilated room.
Good morning to all of you! The pouring of polyurethane resin has finally begun. It’s fantastic, but I have to work fast, the resin hardened in less than three minutes! Wearing a jacket, mask and gloves are necessary. In addition to its toxic smell, the resin is harmful to the skin. Speaking of resin, for my first coloring tests, I will not use any coloring. I will wait for the realization of a next doll.
Good morning! How are you doing? As for me, it couldn’t get any better. The production of silicone molds is going well… and I would say, in a sense. Things would have been better if I had calculated my quantities better. Indeed, I managed to make only half the molds and I am now in need of a silicone barrel. So, another expense will be needed. The good news is that silicone hardens at a high speed and the air bubbles are not very noticeable. To the touch, the texture is also nice.
Good morning everyone. In my previous video, I sadly announced that I was ending porcelain making. It was a natural decision, but not a lightly one! I will continue with porcelain, but only for jewelry making. As for the dolls, I intend to continue with polymer clay, but also with polyurethane resin. As I have mentioned many times before, working with porcelain is delicate, laborious, time consuming and not to mentioned, making plaster molds which can be painful! With porcelain, I want to make small creations and which I prefer best. Honestly, I believe that as an artist, you have to try, test and develop various techniques, and then choose the ones that defines me best.
Good morning to all! I am happy to finally present the video of the 2021 Love Stone collection. This video concludes my adventure with this collection, but also with porcelain doll making. Despite my great appreciation for porcelain, which I think is the noblest medium on the market, sadly I decided to stop there. I will explain the reasons in another post. For now, enjoy the video!
Hello handmade lovers! This time, I have decided to use acrylic eyes rather than glass ones. But what can I say about acrylic eyes? Deep down, I knew that it would be a bad choice, but I had to try them. Although I found them pretty before installing them inside the dollβs head… The result is slightly disappointing: these acrylic eyes give a weird effect. Why do I say that? They look fake due to the plastic; this is what I wanted to say! But hey, since these dolls are not for sale, I will have the opportunity to catch up with other porcelain beauties.
Yippee! Finally, the painting! It was time, after two months of hard work! I have not stopped reworking and refining every piece of porcelain. Not to mention that I am happy to work with other colors of liquid clay (porcelain). This makes the painting process even more exciting. I can use and explore other colors. In short, since porcelain works by layers, based on my experience, a total of sixteen firings await me! Indeed, for each coat of paint, it is necessary to fire it at cone 01. For those who are not very familiar with porcelain, the cone is a porcelain stick that determines the degree of firing to be achieved. It is a kind of firing barometer. This stick is vital, in order to avoid overheating the porcelain pieces, when firing to very high temperature.
Good morning everyone! As I have mentioned many times, working with porcelain is delicate, laborious and time-consuming. As soon as the parts are removed, it is necessary to wait at least a week, so that the pieces of liquid clay dry. Then, thereβs the delicate task of cleaning the dry clay pieces. Indeed, at this stage, these dry clay pieces are as light and fragile as an egg shell. The slightest mishandling can damage the porcelain piece and worse, break it. But once the soft firing (greenware) is done, things get in place and my stress eases quietly. I can calmly work the pieces again with assurance
