For the introduction of the very first production of the Miss Georgia doll, I intend to make the boxes myself. These box style boxes will be made of hard cardboard and canvas. It took me a long time to develop the design plan. Nearly a year of work to find an efficient and elegant way. At first, my idea was to get cardboard boxes and then affix the logo using screen printing as an image transfer. But I was not convinced of the result. To introduce Miss Georgia, I needed a box that was as pretty as it was practical like a collector’s item. However, for future doll collection sales, I plan to use custom and pre-made cardboard boxes that are just as beautiful and eco-friendly. In short, I can’t wait to show you the first sample in the next few weeks.
It is well known that high-end doll eyes are expensive. Since the pandemic, the prices of glass, acrylic or resin eyes have increased. So, I decided to make crystal eyes myself, handmade with care as before. High-end glass eyes will remain available with AMG dolls, but in limited quantities. With my handcrafted creations, I plan to mix the colors of the irises and achieve whimsical effects. I have a lot of ideas that I will share soon.
The manufacture of the doll bases also includes the production of supports to hold the dolls in position. All of these are produced by 3D printing. In addition, hands and feet for dressing have been made. They will all be available at the launch of the first Miss Georgia doll collection, scheduled for the end of this year. While a specific date has not yet been announced, it will be communicated by the fall. Â
Designing accessories such as shoes, shoe soles, glasses and hair passes is an activity that takes up a lot of my time. I have already made a significant number of these items, all made using 3D printing. I now plan to produce more accessories, this time using polymer clay for the soles, as well as other materials such as felt, faux leather and PVC. In addition, I am preparing the production of silicone molds for the manufacture of soles.
Throughout the month of February of this year, I started several tasks and making the bases for the dolls was quite one. First, I made silicone molds from a 3D resin base. Then I poured another polyurethane resin mixture (Smooth-On) with black anchor. The result was okay but pass satisfactory to make it a production. So, in the end I made the decision to make all the doll bases in 3D printing. Three colors were chosen: white, black and transparent. It’s simpler and more practical, but also prettier. I still have to sand everything and pour a thin layer of resin to give a nice finish😊.
Since the first production of Miss Georgia is now complete, it’s time for me to start making the costumes. I have several ideas in mind, but one comes up often: Montreal. Indeed, my hometown inspires me a lot. It is multi-ethnic and mainly French speaking, with European influences (French, English, Scottish, Irish) as well as Indigenous. Montreal is distinguished by its vast territory, typically North American, characterized by its parallel and perpendicular streets that give it a special charm, despite its history.
It’s wonderful to see how Montreal, my hometown, continues to inspire me in my work at the Atelier Miss Georgia Doll! 😊
Montreal is indeed a fascinating city, which harmoniously blends European and North American influences. Here are some interesting things about Montreal:
European and North American Influences: Montreal is unique in that it draws the best of both continents. It has been enriched by American and European cultures. During its growth, the city was divided into two parts along St. Laurent Boulevard: The Francophones to the east and the Anglophones to the west. Today, the trend is towards mixed communities, but this linguistic and cultural duality persists.
Picturesque Neighbourhoods: Montreal is divided into neighbourhoods with a variety of atmospheres. For example, the Plateau Mont-Royal, located at the foot of Mount Royal Park, offers a French-style atmosphere with its terraces, cafes and small cottages. Artists and culture lovers feel at home here. Similarly, the Outremont neighbourhood is essentially residential, with charming, detached houses.
Cultural Diversity: Montreal is a multicultural city where different ethnicities live side by side. The mix of languages (French and English) and traditions creates a unique atmosphere.
Mount Royal: This emblematic park is the green lung of the city. It offers panoramic views, hiking trails, and spaces to relax.
In short, Montreal is a place where the old and the new meet, where the cold seasons do not prevent life from going on. If you have any other memories or inspirations related to Montreal, I’d love to hear them! More info on https://www.montreal.ca , https://www.getyourguide.com/ and https://www.mtl.org 😊
Hi all. I’m back for a few posts before the summer holidays. Although I don’t usually talk about politics here, we are living in a time of uncertainty and many are anxious, me included. However, since the beginning of the year, a nationalist solidarity movement has emerged in Canada, which is heartwarming. Canadian and Quebec ads are flying from everywhere.
Our governments encourage buying local, supporting Canadian culture, food, travel and manufactured goods. Due to global economic uncertainty, I have decided to delay the second production of Miss Georgia scheduled for May. It will be postponed to the fall or early 2026.
I’m going to focus on Miss Georgia’s upcoming collections, inspired by my hometown, Montreal. In the next publication, I will briefly present this modern city that is open to the world. Thank you and see you soon.
