Good morning! Here Comes Joy! She’s finally assembled and I’m happy with her and it was the first time that I was using mohair for any doll wigs. Mohair is beautiful and so soft…and expansive, but that doesn’t mean that I will not use it for future dolls, under contrary! For now, I want to enjoy all the possibilities that I’m having with her, especially with the way she was assembled (huge elastics). For the next two months, I plan to make other dolls and I think it will be difficult for me to posts many things. So, it will be better for you guys to follow my work in progress directly on my Instagram and Facebook pages. But for now, during this weekend, I plan to take various pictures of Joy for future posts. Stay tuned my dear friends!
Hello! I hate not being able to publish anything in the past days… I had to not only paint my doll Joy, but also a few heads. I also tested other China pigments (porcelain paints) in order to compare different brands, for now, I’ll stick to four commercial brands. China pigment powders used to paint on porcelain parts are expensive and sadly, I must import them all. The finest pigments used for the creation of doll making requires very fine powder that will be mixed with an oil or water-based soluble. When firing, the soluble will evaporate and the pigments will be   permanently fixed to the porcelain piece. And Yes! Porcelain paint will remain timeless for centuries!
Hello! The bisque firing of my doll Joy is now complete. Since my firing kiln is quite small, I had to make three bisque firings and that is why it took me so long to write something in my blog’s website. For this doll, I want her to have high heel feet and I will take my time to paint her…there is no rush! I want to enjoy every moment while making her.
