Good evening to you all my dear friends! I hope that you had a great summer and that you have the opportunity fully benefit from it. And Yes, autumn is already upon us, although this week summer it is still with us here in Montreal and one thing is for sure, I cannot complain! A few weeks ago, I updated my Flickr page… Yes, Flickr… What can I say about to this type of media? I have to tell you that last spring, I was so close to closing my page, and this for three reasons: 1- creative theft, 2- a “somewhat” marketing tool and 3- the continuous registration problems (photo downloads). But what is Flickr seriously? According to their website…

Flickr is an image and video hosting Web site and which was created as web services in the summer of 2004 by Ludicorp and was then purchased by the Yahoo group in March 2005. It is a popular site for users who wish to share and integrate personal photographs and especially share with an online community who have the same interests. The service is widely used by photo researchers and bloggers who want to host images that they integrate into blogs and social media.

Somehow, in recent years, they have strengthened the protection on the issue of copyright. It’s a good thing, but in my humble opinion, I must continue to identify all my photos before I publish one! I feel a little uncomfortable with this media! Frankly, I am actually asking myself the following question: Should I close my Flickr page and is this type of media would be useful for me? After a long consideration, I decided, that for the time being, to keep my page and to use it as an artistic promotional tool and NOT as a sales tool. The work in progress of my dolls will be shown in a simple and general way on Flickr. No fuss! Most of the photos will be mainly artistic and to highlight the philosophical values of AMG DOLL. Et oui, l’automne est déjà à nos portes, quoique cette semaine c’est en encore l’été ici à Montréal et une chose est sûr, je ne m’en plaindrai pas! Il y a quelques semaines, j’ai mise à jour ma page Flickr… oui, Flickr…que dois-je dire de ce type de média? Je dois vous confier qu’au printemps dernier, j’étais à deux doigts de fermer ma page et cela pour trois raisons: d’un : le vol créatif, de deux : un outil plus ou moins marketing et de trois, les problèmes continuels d’enregistrements (enregistrement de photos). Mais qu’est-ce Flickr sérieusement? Selon leur site internet…

Flickr est une image et une vidéo d’hébergement site Web et un services web qui a été créée en 2004 par Ludicorp et puis acheté par le groupe Yahoo en mars 2005. C’est un site populaire pour les utilisateurs qui souhaitent partager et d’intégrer des photographies personnelles et plus particulièrement avec une communauté en ligne qui partage les mêmes intérêts. Le service est largement utilisé par les chercheurs de photos et des blogueurs qui désirent héberger des images qu’ils intègrent dans des blogs et des médias sociaux.

Depuis quelques années, ils ont renforcé, en quelque sorte, la protection sur la question des droits d’auteur. C’est une bonne chose, mais à mon humble avis, je dois continuer à identifier toutes mes photos avant d’en publier une! Je me sens un peu mal à l’aise avec ce média! Franchement, je me suis réellement posée la question : devrais-je « Flickr » fermer ma page et en quoi ce type de média me serait bien utile? Après une longue réflexion, j’ai décidé, pour le moment, de garder ma page et de l’utiliser à titre d’outil promotionnel artistique et NON de vente. Le travail en progression de mes poupées sera montré de manière simple et générale sur Flickr. Pas de chichi! La majorité des photos seront principalement artistiques et pour mettre en avant plan l’image philosophique de AMG DOLL. À très bientôt!
